
We’re often asked, “Where did the name come from?”. The brand had begun life at Liz’s kitchen table where sketches, swatches and ideas were creatively discussed over cups of fresh mint tea. From the very beginning we knew we wanted the collections to be tactile and fresh. So, it was during a discussion about what our fledgling brand represented that we decided the name should contain ‘Mint’, to sum up the sensory qualities of freshness, serenity and flavour, and ‘Velvet’ to hint at the combination of luxury and touchability. That’s relaxed glamour in a nutshell!
Our journey began in 2009, when the three of us decided to throw caution to the wind and set up our own womenswear brand. After 15 years in the fashion industry, we dreamed of creating clothing which incorporated our passion for fashion and, as modern working mothers, our real lives. We wanted stylish clothing that would reflect the needs of our lifestyle but also made us feel sexy and confident.
Just over 2 years old, Mint Velvet has become a firm favourite with customers and stylists alike. The collection combines beautiful textures with the season’s key looks, translated into effortlessly, wearable and co-ordinated pieces - everything our modern lives demand, and everything we dreamed of creating.
We take great pride in our holistic approach; ensuring every aspect of Mint Velvet incorporates our relaxed glamour ethos. We believe shopping should be easy and enjoyable, so we put our hearts and souls into MV to ensure that we continue to be a brand that you love as much as we do.

At MV we like to empower women with confidence through our collections, so it seemed only natural that we wanted to support a charity with similar ideals. Wellbeing of Women have been pioneering to improve women's reproductive and gynaecological health through research, training and education since 1964. Their critical work will affect every woman in some way throughout their lifetime, which is why we’re joining forces to support this cause.
