Online Content Manager Vacancy (1 Year Maternity Cover)

We are looking for an Online Content Manager (1 Year Maternity Cover) to join our busy Marketing and Ecommerce team for a year’s contract to cover maternity leave.

The successful candidate must have proven experience working with an established fashion ecommerce business, successful managing the website from a content perspective. You will need to have a good working knowledge of various technical plug-ins to a website, be able to commercially trade and merchandise the website and manage a small team.

Your responsibilities will include:

Strategy and Planning

  • Delivery of online content strategy
  • Strategic planning of product categories and visual merchandising to optimise ecommerce sales
  • Weekly review of trade and website performance to tweak category placement, homepage header banner, drop down imagery and any specific product pushes
  • Strategic direction of search functionality and day-to-day management of the relationship with SLI
  • Ecommerce relationship building with Buying, Merchandising and Customer Care to develop best practices on the website
  • Manage the critical path and product co-ordination for Ecommerce shoots
  • Managing the SALE critical path within the online team, lessons learnt and action any recommendations
  • Optimising product placement at all times especially at business critical periods – Christmas, catalogue, SALE etc
  • Managing the online catalogue critical path, lessons learnt and action any recommendations
  • Liaising with Branch Merchandising ref key periods of website trading and activity to ensure resource in place in the warehouse
  • Coordination of ad hoc web projects including research, brief composition and presentation to the wider group
  • Managing the relationship with host brands, alongside Merchandising teams, to create more visibility of MV, drive marketing activity and increase sales
  • Manage Content Work list within online team
  • Manage workload of Junior Web Developer to ensure tasks are being completed to deadlines and maintain the look and feel of MV
  • Resource planning for key period
  • Cover Senior Online Content Assistant during annual leave
  • Sitting on the Creative Panel to brainstorm new creative content ideas across the website, social platforms, and PR function

Online Content

  • Ownership of visual merchandising guidelines
  • Managing the product flow and merchandising on the NEW IN page
  • Ensuring all written content on the site is up to date, correct, and in the MV brand tone of voice
  • Managing updates to any content pages
  • Delivery and management of all ad hoc content areas (such as DENIM, SHOE AREA) including critical path, lessons learnt and actioning any recommendations
  • Copy writing all clothing product descriptions working alongside Buying, Customer Care and Digital Marketing to ensure that these are appropriate and SEO friendly
  • Weekly homepage and homepage header analysis and refinement
  • Support Web Platform Manager on the delivery of larger development projects
  • Manage new stores critical path for online (includes content on the site plus test deliver to store set-up for new boutiques)
  • Set up and test any promotional codes for seasonal campaigns
  • Co-ordinating all weekly emails (includes briefs to check with Head of Marketing, brief developer, test and approve)
  • Managing all changes to the site on day of SALE
  • Co-ordinate weekly homepage changes (check artwork, relevancy & mobile version)
  • Co-ordinate and approve go live of monthly competitions
  • Sign off new category banners, drop down imagery & promo banner changes from online content assistant
  • Brief all seasonal updates to the website
  • Creates briefs for all emails to sign off with Head of Marketing
  • Final approval and scheduled all emails (Includes all emails, website, JLP, HOF, Hemmingways)
  • Support Head of Marketing with ad hoc content projects

Customer Journey

  • Optimising the customer journey for improved sales and conversion
  • Monthly reviews of the customer journey versus competitors with suggested improvements
  • Regularly test and feedback on the payment and delivery options offered versus competitors with recommendations
  • Ensure website complies with best practice
  • Regular testing of key commercial pages and functions of the website including checkout, search, SALE, catalogue New In etc
  • Regular testing of all customer journeys across the website: velocity emails, forms etc
  • Regularly liaise with Customer Care team to ensure that any customers’ issues with the website are being addressed
  • Ensure the website is ready for any new countries and review any relevant information accordingly
  • Managing customer user groups to enhance knowledge of the customer journey and how to make improvements


  • Ownership of the JIRA support process and critical path with Fresca, subsequent actions, and reporting on any issues to wider group
  • Ownership of the monthly site audit of the website including management of the check sheet, actions to be completed and circulation of information amongst wider group
  • Report monthly on website activity, new content, changes, functionality of the site and recommendations
  • Report weekly on SLI search function
  • Drive the review of competitors, putting together recommendations for MV
