How to Make Your Party Look Work Harder

HOW TO MAKE YOUR PARTY LOOK
Work Harder

by Beth Francis

Beth Francis

With an abundance of parties to dress for, ever wondered how you can rework your wardrobe so that you don’t need to buy a whole new outfit each time? Here’s how….

THE LBD

THE LBD

The little black dress is the ultimate wardrobe saviour; simple and sleek when worn on it’s own with minimal accessories, but also given a new lease of life when you add colour and glitz.

LOOK 1
Go head to toe black with black shoes and clutch bag, keep your hair slick and simple and add a red lip for some glamour

LOOK 2
Loosen your hair into beachy waves, keep your make up soft and simple, and add some drama with a statement necklace (layering up necklaces makes a real statement) and slip a jacket over your shoulders

LOOK 3
Let the colour do the talking with coordinating or clashing coloured accessories, and out your hair in a soft bun

Ink Asymmetric Layer Dress
Navy Marty Knot Front Sandal
Black Fleur Clutch
Gunmetal Lulu Side Panel Court
Blush Soft Zip Bomber
Silver Toned Flower Necklace

THE WHITE TROUSER

Nothing quite says summer like an injection of bright white, and white trousers can be reworked in a number of smart outfits for any occasion.

LOOK 1
Go metallic (sequins will work just as well) for a shimmering summer feel that will look gorgeous with pulled back hair and nude coloured make-up.  Keep footwear and accessories tonal for an understated and sexy look, and finish off with a matching blazer.

LOOK 2
Monochrome never fails to make a statement, so pair your white bottoms with a sexy black top and matching black accessories.  Go for a cat eye flick with your eyeliner to complete the look.

LOOK 3
Try a statement print for an injection of fun to your outfit, and pair with a contrasting dark jacket.  Darker or metallic accessories will work best here, and make-up should be clean and simple.

Blossom Metallic V-Neck Knit
Stone Nadia Stud Strap Sandal
Ivory Side Split Crop Trouser
Mink Fleur Clutch
Nude Marty Knot Front Sandal

THE COORDINATED SET

Coords are a trend that are not going away, and they’re a simple way of making your wardrobe work harder – either wearing the full look or breaking it up into separate looks.

Coordinated sets

LOOK 1
Wear the look top to toe for a bold party statement.  Punchy metallic and coloured accessories will set your outfit off

LOOK 2
Swap out the coord top for a statement white shirt (another key trend for this summer), keep hair fuss free, and add some colour via beautifully painted nails

LOOK 3
Try muted coloured bottoms, with matching shoes, for a simple and sophisticated option.  You can afford to go heavy on the eyeliner for this,  and keep the hair sleek and sexy (a low pony works best).
