Let’s talk about hygge, the Danish concept that covers everything from a snug night in with friends, to cosying up with a good book after a long day. Christmas, as you can imagine, is a highly Hyggelig time of year – family, friends, warm fires and good food.  This month’s MV Discoveries will take you to all the best hygge spots around, getting you exploring everything from spas to festive markets in style and comfort.

Canto Corvino


Canto Corvino, situated at the heart of London’s hustle and bustle in Spitalfields, is a real hidden gem.

Escape the cold and head inside for a Bloody Maria, a tequila-infused take on the classic that’s sure to warm you from the inside out.

Take a seat at the bar or one of the diner-style booths and snack on their criminally delicious Sicilian arancini, or go the whole nine yards and brace yourself for some of the most wonderfully innovative dishes on offer on London’s Italian restaurant scene.

This festive market brings Christmas to life like nothing else. Grab your ice skates and head down after dark to experience the market it its full glory.

Perfect for a romantic escapade, or an evening out with the family

The Patinoire du Village is a gloriously extravagant symbol of all things Hygge; warm glowing lights, tasty treats and ice skating make this one of our top Winter spots.

Sling the excuses out of the window and consider this an excuse to book your weekend away.



Whilst winter is great in many ways, it does have the unfortunate side effect of limiting the amount we can, and want, to do come evening. No longer are drinks in the evening sunshine a possibility (more of a distant dream) and the colder weather is persuading us to stay in more and more. If you’re lucky enough to live nearby, we can’t recommend anything more, but be warned, get there early to ensure you get in. If it’s a touch too far away gather your friends and family, tuck in to some sweet treats and watch it on the telly. Nothing could be more hygge than that.
