Busy social calendar? Ours too. This season we’re looking to the past for a partywear masterclass. Studio 54 has been a key source of inspiration for us – widely known as the birthplace of disco glamour, this nightclub in 70s New York had stars the likes of Cher and Bianca Jagger as regular patrons. We’ve deconstructed three of their best outfits below, updating them with brand-new styles from our winter collection.
Bianca Jagger bares
Bianca Jagger (pictured here with Pop artist Andy Warhol) had a way of looking timelessly elegant wherever she went. Here, she takes a minimal approach to party dressing by focusing on the flattering silhouette of a one-shoulder top and a pared-back colour palette. We’ve paired our own version with smart trousers and slingback heels – both subtly embellished for some added sparkle.
Margaret Trudeau in
Head-to-toe sequins are always a good idea, as actress (and Canadian Prime Minister’s mum) Margaret Trudeau knows full well. The silver dress in our collection is almost an exact match for the one she wore to a Studio 54 party in 1977. All it needs is some earrings and a minimal heel letting this show-stopping style do all the talking.
Cher in fabulous fringing
If anyone knows how to dress for dancing, it’s Cher. Clad in a sparkly dress with statement fringed sleeves, this outfit is all about movement: we’ve opted for a satin cami with a statement chain necklace and a fringed pencil skirt all in head-to-toe black so the focus is on the different textures. Just add heels and a sparkly clutch!
