The at-home festival

Gutted to see your festival plans postponed until next year? We were too, until we realised there’s no reason we can’t enjoy our very own at-home festival…

Being outside and enjoying the fresh air is one of the highlights of warm weather even if you don’t have a spacious outside area: an airy balcony, enclosed roof-top terrace or a plant-filled patio can all be the perfect stage. And if the weather isn’t on your side, you could always find creative ways to bring the festival indoors. Here are our favourite ways to recreate the festival spirit at home…

MV’s Top 5 tips on how to organise a festival at home
  1. Any self-respecting festival needs a headline, so make sure you create a line-up of times for each activity, for example: kick-off drinks at 1pm, dancing 2 – 3pm, BBQ at 4pm, etc. Get crafty by upcycling or practicing your calligraphy to make it personalised.
  2. Bunting is essential, no matter how big (or small) your festival space is. Our Pinterest board has ideas on how to make your own
  3. Glitter station – because nothing says ‘festival look’ like a bit of glitter… most retailers sell biodegradable options.
  4. Food & drinks – easy finger food is essential, think BBQs, pizzas…
  5. Last but definitely not least is music – why not ask everyone who is attending the festival to suggest their favourite tracks and festival performances? You can then put these together in a playlist to ensure the dancing never stops.
